11:43 - According to our reporters on the ground - The Globe and Mail as well as Xinhua News Agency - the UNHRC has hit the ground running on the topic of human trafficking. Some countries are arguing for sovereignty in dealing with this issue, while others propose a more global cooperative agreement.
Look back here for further updates as they occur.
13:23- In the HS version of the UNHRC they have narrowed their focus to examine sexually exploited children. Meanwhile in the MS version of the UNHCR they are divided on two positions: that of providing free post-secondary education, and government farmland acquisition to reduce land slavery.
14:05 - In the HS UNHRC the delegate from Nigeria believes we need to investigate human trafficking on a state, federal and international scale. Most of the delegates are in agreement about needing widespread investigation into the matter and are planning to make a motion to vote on and amend the singular position paper. Because of the widespread cooperation, many delegates expect it to pass unanimously.
